The English Gardening School in Chelsea, London

International Outlets

We are very pleased that other countries are adopting our teaching methods. We very much enjoy teaching abroad and have found that the mutual passion for gardens and gardening knows no boundaries.

Japan

During the next year The Japan Herb School will offer a Home Study Course in Garden Design, again based on translation of one of Rosemary’s books. Run by the much travelled Mr Yukata Onoe, The Japan Herb School also offers courses in Herbal Medicine, Horticultural Therapy, and Aromatherapy.

USA

We have been approached by Chelsea Gardens, Norwich, Connecticut to advise on setting up a similar educational establishment within the proposed Botanic Garden there. Currently consisting of 80 of the 400 acres of prime, natural land in Norwich’s historic Mohegan Park, Chelsea Gardens’ mission is to create a world class year round self-supporting botanical garden with a strong teaching emphasis. Having now twice been involved in preliminary discussions and site visits, we hope to make some of our expertise available within the USA.

For details contact Hugh Schnip at Chelsea Gardens, PO Box 810, Norwich, CT 06360 USA or visit their website: www.chelseagardens.org.

Russia

We have had a presence in Russia for over ten years.

Our current Russian partner, Floreal, is based in Moscow where our colleagues Lidia Podyablonskaya and Nadezhda Dobrovskaya run a very successful school enterprise teaching Garden Design, Horticulture and Flower Arranging. Using one of Rosemary Alexander’s books translated into Russian, their Garden Design course attracts students from many different regions of the USSR including Siberia. Rosemary usually visits annually and gives Master Classes in Moscow to a large and very enthusiastic group.

Floreal also brings Russian students over to the Chelsea Flower Show, culminating in a five day Garden Tour led by Rosemary.
